9th Annual Teen Suicide Prevention Symposium
Suicide is the 3rd leading killer of young people. In the US, every 47 seconds a teenager attempts suicide and every 80 minutes a teen dies by suicide. In Texas, there is an average of 6 deaths daily by suicide. The Teen Suicide Prevention Symposium is a joint effort by ESC Region 12, the Junior League of Waco and MCC. Several nationally acclaimed speakers in the field of suicide prevention will be presenting information including, cyber bullying and technology as it relates to suicide, current research on the impact of social media as it pertains to potential suicidal behaviors, teen suicide prevention and intervention resources, identifying students who are high risk, and programs available to support high risk students and their families. It will be an information-packed day and lunch will be provided.
 
Coordinated School Health & Counselor Co-op members may attend for a reduced fee of $50. Session will provide up to 7.0 Type I CNE, Social Work or Psychologist credits through MCC.
